This article explains how Shopify edits sync to ShipHero. If you need step-by-step instructions for a specific action, see How to Edit or Cancel an Order.
Not all edits made in Shopify automatically sync to ShipHero. Some changes sync conditionally, some do not sync at all and must be made directly in ShipHero, and some have a cutoff point after which they can no longer be made. Use this article to understand what action is needed for each type of edit.
Edit sync behavior by type:
Line item edits (adding, removing, or replacing items or quantities) Syncs to ShipHero: Yes, but only if the edit is made before the order is picked. Once picked, line items cannot be edited in either Shopify or ShipHero. For instructions see How to Add an Item to an Order, How to Remove an Item from an Order, or How to Substitute or Replace Items on an Order.
Address edits Syncs to ShipHero: Yes, but only if the edit is made before the order is packed. Once packed, the address cannot be edited. For instructions see How to Edit a Shipping Address on an Order.
Customer notes (e.g. gift notes) Syncs to ShipHero: No. Customer notes edited in Shopify do not sync to ShipHero. To update a gift note or customer note on an order, go to shipsfor.us → Orders → open the order → edit the Gift Note field directly before the order is packed. Note: gift notes are not automatically printed or included with a shipment. Manifest must route orders with attachments into a dedicated workflow on the warehouse floor. Contact Manifest's account managers to set up this workflow.
Shipping name or delivery method Syncs to ShipHero: No. Shipping method changes made in Shopify do not sync to ShipHero. Update the shipping method directly in ShipHero before the order is packed. For instructions see How to Edit the Shipping Method on an Order.
Order tags Syncs to ShipHero: Yes, but with a condition. If automation rules are built on order tags, those rules will not trigger if the tag is added after the import to ShipHero. Tags added after import will sync but will not trigger automation rules.
Refund (full — restock all items) Syncs to ShipHero: Yes, but you must elect to restock all items during the refund in Shopify to cancel the allocation of line items in ShipHero. If you do not restock, the allocation will remain active in ShipHero. To cancel the order in ShipHero go to shipsfor.us → Orders → Cancel Order before the order is picked. For instructions see How to Cancel an Order.
Refund (partial — restock specific items) Syncs to ShipHero: Yes, but you must elect to restock the specific items being refunded in Shopify to cancel the allocation of those line items in ShipHero. To edit line items directly in ShipHero go to shipsfor.us → Orders → edit line items before the order is picked. For instructions see How to Remove an Item from an Order.
Cancellation Syncs to ShipHero: Yes, but you must elect to restock items during the cancellation in Shopify. To cancel directly in ShipHero go to shipsfor.us → Orders → Cancel Order before the order is picked. For instructions see How to Cancel an Order.
The universal rule: all edits and cancellations must be made before the order is picked — and address edits before the order is packed. Once an order has been picked it cannot be edited in either Shopify or ShipHero. Contact Manifest's account managers if you need to make changes to an order that has already been picked.
