Overview
As you may already know, the Canada Post is on strike and operations are disrupted which will lead to delays.
This impacts the following services offered by Manifest that ship to Canada:
- USPS First Class Package International
- All DHL eCommerce services (Packet, Standard, Direct)
- UPS Worldwide Economy DDU
The services that can continue to ship to Canadian addresses throughout the strike are as follows:
- UPS Worldwide Economy DDP*
- FedEx International Ground (to Canada)
- UPS Standard (to Canada)
- FedEx International Connect Plus
- UPS Worldwide Expedited
- DHL International Direct*^
*UPS Worldwide Economy DDP and DHL International Direct are duties prepaid products, meaning that end recipients will not be responsible for payment of duties and that you will be invoiced by Manifest for the duties and taxes owed on the shipment. Please contact your account manager if you’d like to explore using these options.
^Based on available information from DHL, their recommendation is to switch to Direct (DDP) to leverage their broader delivery network and reduce risk of delay. This does NOT necessarily make the packages immune to the impacts of the strike (particularly for more remote areas).

Prospective Changes Required In Your Store
We’ve noticed that many of our partner brands’ Canadian shipping options are lumped together with other international countries.
If that’s the case for your brand, you may need to dis-aggregate Canada as a separate shipping zone so that you can continue to take advantage of lower cost shipping through other services as above.
Here is guidance on creating shipping zones in Shopify.
Action Needed in ShipHero
Below is guidance on setting up shipping options within ShipHero, to match the new Canada zone(s) and methods(s) you may set up in Shopify:
