While the vast majority of orders are shipped using labels generated through Manifest's various parcel carrier accounts, there are multiple options to ship orders.
Large retail vendors, distributors, or marketplaces (like Amazon) may require shipping under third-party generated, prepaid small parcel shipping labels or third-party, prepaid freight.
This guide reviews all shipping types at Manifest and how to configure.
- Manifest Small Parcel
- Manifest Freight
- Third-Party Small Parcel (Prepaid Labels)
- Third-Party Freight (Prepaid Freight)
Manifest Small Parcel
As noted, this is most common. Orders import to Manifest's WMS, ShipHero, and through ship mapping from your store, we select the most cost effective shipping option within the defined parameters.
See our guide here for the full details on configuring ship options and "rate shop" win logic at Manifest.
Manifest Freight (FedEx Freight)
Manifest now has the ability to book freight on your behalf for large, B2B/FBA Prep orders as needed. Through our carrier partnership with FedEx, we have a seamless process to book freight fast.
Benefits of Manifest handling your outbound freight for large orders include:
- Reduced admin effort and communications for you and your team
- Reliable and fast pick-up (typically same-day as booked)
- FedEx tracking interface
If you'd like to explore having Manifest book freight on your behalf with FedEx for large outbound orders, please contact your account manager.
IMPORTANT:
- To ship via freight, you must set the carrier and shipping method to Genericlabel - Generic
- Similar to creating orders with specific tags or naming conventions for B2B/FBA Prep (as here), shipping via Manifest Freight requires a trigger to denote that we must book freight on an individual order basis
Third-Party Small Parcel (Prepaid Labels)
Large retail vendors, distributors, or marketplaces (like Amazon) may require shipping under third-party generated, prepaid small parcel shipping labels. Typically, these are provided to you through your vendor portal (e.g. Amazon Seller Central).
IMPORTANT:
- To ship via third-party, prepaid labels, you must set the carrier and shipping method to Genericlabel - Generic
- You must upload the attachments of the label(s) directly to the order in ShipHero*
*We understand that producing third-party, prepaid labels may require us to send you weights and dimensions. For these orders, a Vendor Compliance SOP must explicitly state the need to send weights and dimensions. Upon successful pick, pack, and processing of the order, we will send you these weights and dimensions and await your successful upload and written confirmation that the carton- and/or pallet-level labels are now attached to the order.
Third-Party Freight (Prepaid Freight)
Large retail vendors, distributors, or marketplaces (like Amazon) may require shipping under third-party, prepaid freight. Typically, these are provided to you through your vendor portal (e.g. Amazon Seller Central) or facilitated through a third-party freight forwarder partner.
IMPORTANT:
- To ship via third-party, prepaid freight, you must set the carrier and shipping method to Genericlabel - Generic
- You must upload the attachment(s) of the BOL(s) directly to the order in ShipHero*
-
You, or the forwarder, must book a valid outbound appointment through OpenDock to schedule pickup
-
The OpenDock appointment must include**:
- Your (brand) name
- The order number (as it appears in ShipHero)
- An attached copy of the BOL
-
The OpenDock appointment must include**:
*We understand that producing third-party, prepaid BOLs may require us to send you weights and dimensions.
**If the OpenDock appointment does not include the information required, we may not be able to accurately identify the proper outbound shipment to send with a freight forwarder and reserve the right to turn a pickup away.
